HISTORY

Established in 1851, the Wooster Brush Company is among the first paint applicator manufacturers in the U.S. Adam Foss founded the company. He relocated from Pennsylvania to Ohio and started the company. He started by developing handmade bristle paint brushes. In Wooster, Ohio, he began the company in a 2-story building. The brushes were distributed door-to-door all over Ohio.

The organization purchased land on Madison Avenue in 1909 to generate a new factory. The structure was two-hundred feet long and seventy feet in width. This facility offered them three times more floor space than previously. At present, the Madison Avenue building is the Wooster, Ohio head office.

The business has only elected 9 presidents since Adam began it. In August 2010, William S. Fagert took over as president. He has been with The Wooster Brush Company since 1985.

After operating for 165 years, The Wooster Brush Company has reached many industry milestones.

They came up with Shasta® style brush and the angled sash brush.

The first to offer man made fabrics for roller covers. Currently, it is deemed an industry-standard.

The “Foss-set” technique was developed to cement the bristles into the paint brushes.

Developed the Exploded-Tip® strategy to generate soft flags on filament endings.

First company to try nylon filaments to make brushes for latex paints.

For this reason The Wooster Brush Company has expanded to become the most innovative developer of brush applicators in the industry. Many of the best decorating equipment in the business is made by Wooster Brush. New product styles can be found annually. The Wooster Brush Company makes more items than any other high-quality paint applicator manufacturer. The business employs a “made in America,” mindset and has handed down this on down a long time.

Brush Defining Factors

Materials

Merging robust ferrules, comfortable handles, synthetic filaments, the best quality bristles from China and durable blends is what makes these paint brushes are leaders across the board. The Wooster Brush Company utilizes the highest-quality merchandise from across the globe to develop its products. If we cannot source the materials we need, we make our own.

Tipping

The filament or tip is easily the most essential part of the paint brush. The particular way the filament, surface, or tip is designed specifically affects the paint application. Our unique tipping methods are guarded meticulously, which is common for virtually any paint brush manufacturer. The end is a major reason behind how productive a brush brand is.

Taper

Check out the brush edgewise. Note whether or not this tapers and comes to a point, there will be more control. The tapered filament brushes encourage the paint to flow and develop a more even finish thanks to better coverage. To streamline cutting-in techniques, make an effort to pump the paint onto the surface. Don’t be tempted by cheaper level filament brushes or un-tapered versions because they will sacrifice surface area capacity, coverage and control.
